Running, Really

Back in the saddle!

I went for a quick jog today - just 3 miles up to the water towers on the trails above campus. It felt great but my hamstrings are really tight and a little sore, so I tried to just go slow and lengthen my (ridiculously short) stride and stretch them out. Lots of stretching afterwards too.

Now I feel pretty darn good! Tomorrow I might hop in the pool and get some yards under my belt. The question now is this: without organized TNT workouts, what the heck will I do with myself? I saw a Gold's gym close to the house that was flying a banner for $49 down and $15 per month, but I wonder what the catch is. I'm also thinking about joining the Master's swimming program that's close to the house - maybe those two things would be enough organized workouts to keep me motivated, and I can sneak in the biking on my own now that I have some good routes.

Good to know that a week-and-a-half off didn't seem to affect me too much. Of course, getting back in the water tomorrow should be interesting. I seem to lose swimming fitness the fastest...
